Now Is The Best Time To Apply Winterizer To Your Boise Lawns

Posted on October 3, 2016October 1, 2025 By Tim Mussell

ferti-lome WinterizerHave you ever wondered how some people still have green grass in the middle of winter? Or how they always seem to be the first ones with lush green lawns in spring time? The answer is that they properly winterize their lawns with the correct kinds of fertilizer. Fall is a critical time for most kinds of grass. As the temperature begins to change and the days get shorter, grass will begin to store nutrients for the winter. It starts to shift food reserves from the leaves to the roots. Applying a good fertilizer mix will provide your lawn with plenty of food to get through the winter. It will also give it enough reserves to feed off of in the spring to grow extra thick and green.

At Victory greens we recommend using our ferti-lome Winterizer For Established Lawns. The 25-5-6 comes in 20lb bags and is specially formulated for our area to put your lawn in proper condition to withstand the hazards of a cold winter. It helps with the hardening of late growth and builds root systems. Root growth will continue throughout the fall and winter.

It takes approximately 4 lbs of ferti-lome winterizer for established lawns per 1000 sq ft. The maximum number of applications per treatment site is 2. You will need to water thoroughly after application.

Come by our nursery at 4975 S Meridian Rd in Meridian to pick some up today. Be sure to talk with our knowledgeable staff about your specific lawn care needs. Or call us for more info at (208) 888-5551.
